Monocrystal Silicon is a sort of inert material with high hardness, and it is insoluble in water.
Monocrystal Silicon has very good transmission performance between 1 to 7μm. Meanwhile, the transmission in far-infrared band of this material is also very good, which is superior to other IR materials.
Monocrystal Silicon is normally used as substrate material for IR windows and filters in the 3-5 micron. And due to its high thermal conductivity and low density, monocrystal silicon is a common material used for laser reflectors.
